A growing professional services firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its bookkeeping function and oversee a team responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of small-to-mid-sized clients. The environment is relaxed, flexible, and offers meaningful autonomy; ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, structure-building, and helping elevate operational standards across a growing practice.

About the Role:
Reporting to firm leadership, the Accounting Manager will manage a team of 4–5 bookkeepers while overseeing approximately 40–50 client files across various industries. The role requires strong technical bookkeeping abilities, exceptional QBO competency, and the judgement to clean up and rebuild files that may be significantly behind.

You will play a major role in reducing backlog, improving internal processes, and laying the operational foundation for the firm to double its client base over the next year.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and mentor a team of bookkeepers, providing training, workflow guidance, and quality review.
  • Oversee client files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely updates.
  • Manage cleanup engagements.
  • Identify errors, rebuild data integrity, and ensure client financials are reliable.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding outstanding items and project timelines.
  • Implement and enforce best practices across bookkeeping, documentation, and internal controls.
  • Support leadership in scaling processes, increasing efficiency, and delivering an elevated client experience.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to tools, workflows, and team performance.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping experience within a public practice or multi-client environment.
  • Strong leadership experience—able to guide, coach, and hold a small team accountable.
  • Expert-level QuickBooks Online skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across a high-volume client portfolio.
  • Proven experience cleaning up incomplete or inaccurate files; strong diagnostic skills.
  • Critical thinking, urgency, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • No CPA required; depth of bookkeeping knowledge and multi-client experience is essential.
  • Comfortable working 2–3 days onsite.
Why Join
  • Casual, flexible, and non-corporate environment with a supportive leadership team.
  • Hybrid schedule with later start options.
  • Opportunity to lead a team, shape processes, and contribute meaningfully to firm growth.
  • Hands-on mentorship from leadership and structured onboarding to their systems and workflows.
