A respected real estate investment and property management company is seeking a strategic Controller to join their leadership team. This role is ideal for accounting professionals with a strong public practice background who are ready to bring their technical expertise to a dynamic corporate setting. You’ll oversee financial reporting, tax planning, and investor relations across a diverse portfolio of entities.
About the Role
Reporting into the CFO, the Controller will play a key leadership role focused on corporate-level accounting strategy and oversight, rather than day-to-day property-level operations. You will manage financial compliance, provide technical guidance, and ensure accurate reporting across multiple of legal entities.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee full-cycle financial reporting and compliance for a portfolio of 40+ legal entities
- Manage year-end financial statement preparation and coordinate with external auditors
- Lead tax planning activities and support investor relations
- Review and implement complex accounting structures and ensure regulatory compliance
- Provide guidance to property accounting teams and act as a technical resource
- Support executive leadership with financial insights and special projects
- CPA designation with a strong foundation in public practice (audit/tax)
- Deep understanding of complex structures, multi-entity accounting, and tax reporting
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in real estate or investment management
- Ability to manage external relationships (auditors, investors, tax advisors)
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with a high attention to detail
- Experience with corporate consolidations and financial statement disclosures
