A growing real estate and property management organization is seeking a Controller to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to oversee financial operations, lead a team, and influence strategic decision-making in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
 
About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will manage the organization's financial operations, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. This position will also provide leadership and development for a team of four direct reports.
 
What You'll Do

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across the organization and its subsidiaries.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and accounting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Supervise tax filings, audits, and other regulatory compliance submissions.
  • Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and oversee debt financing and cash management activities.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for business decisions, including capital expenditures, acquisitions, and pricing strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including property owners, lenders, investors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of four direct reports, providing coaching and development opportunities to support their professional growth.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or CMA designation (required).
  • 7-10+ years of experience in senior accounting or financial management roles, preferably within property management or real estate.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing direct reports.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
