About the Role:
Reporting into a senior payroll or finance leader, this role is responsible for overseeing payroll tax compliance and reconciliations across Canadian and U.S. jurisdictions. The Payroll Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate statutory reporting, timely remittances, and resolution of payroll tax issues, while also supporting payroll processing as required.
This position offers hands-on exposure to cross-border payroll, collaboration with internal stakeholders, and involvement in audits and compliance initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
- Review and audit employee payroll changes to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Manage payroll tax processes across monthly, quarterly, and year-end cycles
- Prepare and reconcile statutory filings and tax forms across multiple jurisdictions
- Investigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, penalties, and agency notices
- Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to address payroll tax inquiries
- Review payroll tax calculations, withholdings, and remittances for accuracy
- Maintain organized records for payroll filings, correspondence, and audits
- Support internal and external audit requests related to payroll and tax compliance
- Monitor legislative changes and assess payroll tax impacts
- Assist with payroll processing across various pay cycles as needed
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in payroll, with exposure to complex or multi-jurisdiction environments
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Payroll certification (PCP, CPP, CPM, or equivalent) is an asset
- Advanced Excel skills, including reconciliations and data analysis
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
