We are seeking a Property Accountant to join our clients team. You will be responsible for a blend of property accounting, corporate accounting, and lease administration duties. This role offers significant growth potential, with the opportunity to advance into a management position. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting within a commercial real estate setting, with the ability to manage properties in the development phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including those in the development phase.
  • Handle property administration tasks, such as contract management, budgeting, and tracking actual costs.
  • Process and enter utility invoices for properties.
  • Oversee corporate credit card usage.
  • Manage accounting and reporting for US-based Airbnb properties, including monthly reporting and property/maintenance management (e.g., cleaner checks).
  • Perform full-cycle accounting duties, including bank reconciliations and managing accounts payable/receivable.
  • Administer lease agreements, including reading and interpreting lease terms, rental schedules, tenant recoveries, and additional rent calculations.
  • Manage bills from service providers.
Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a real estate accounting role, with exposure to both property and corporate accounting.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, specifically within a commercial real estate context.
  • Experience managing properties in the development phase, including contract management, budgeting, and tracking actual costs.
  • Ability to read and interpret commercial lease agreements, including rental schedules, tenant recoveries, and additional rent calculations.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Premier Jonas is an asset.
  • Strong self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, task-driven environment.
  • CPA designation or active pursuit of a CPA is an asset.
