Core Duties:

  • Plan and manage multiple engagements while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Deliver high-quality client service and build strong professional relationships within the oil & gas sector.
  • Analyze and resolve complex tax matters specific to the oil & gas industry, providing well-supported conclusions and recommendations.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with risk management and quality control policies.
  • Stay up to date on tax regulations, industry developments, and accounting best practices within the oil & gas landscape.
  • Utilize tax software and technology tools efficiently for compliance and research purposes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, meeting internal deadlines well in advance of official due dates.
  • Oversee team performance and project timelines to ensure deadlines are met without excessive overtime.
  • Keep leadership informed of engagement progress, challenges, and opportunities within the oil & gas focus.
  • Manage billing, collections, and financial targets in line with firm expectations.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the firm’s growth through client relationship development within the oil & gas industry.
  • Participate in networking and industry events to build professional connections within the energy sector.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and constructive feedback to staff members.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that aligns with company values.
Qualifications:
  • CPA certification or equivalent professional designation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in oil & gas tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Strong analytical, research, and compliance skills specific to the oil & gas industry.
  • Extensive experience in oil & gas tax, with a focus on inbound entities operating in the U.S. oil & gas market.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, including scoping, budgeting, team coordination, and client relations within the oil & gas context.
  • Hands-on experience with corporate, partnership, S-corporation, and individual tax returns.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation and research software.
Preferred:
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field.
  • Experience in individual and expatriate international taxation.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with international clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those involved in the oil & gas sector.
  • Familiarity with tax software such as Go Systems, BNA Income Tax Planner, Bloomberg BNA, GoFileRoom, and Checkpoint.
