A leading organization is seeking an Accounting Assistant on a contract basis to support day-to-day finance operations. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounts receivable experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the finance team, this position will focus on supporting core accounting functions, with an emphasis on receivables, cash management, and general ledger activities. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records while collaborating with internal stakeholders across the business.
What You’ll Do
- Manage daily cash processing activities, including reconciliations and allocation of incoming payments
- Oversee accounts receivable processes, including invoicing support, tracking outstanding balances, and maintaining accurate records
- Prepare regular reporting on receivables and assist with collections follow-ups alongside internal stakeholders
- Support work-in-progress tracking, including reconciliations, adjustments, and transfers
- Assist with general accounting tasks such as journal entries, petty cash, and ledger maintenance
- Contribute to ad hoc reporting and support ongoing process improvements
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a corporate or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and full-cycle receivables processes
- Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel and QuickBooks skills
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently when needed
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- Professional discretion when handling sensitive financial information
