About the Role
An established Canadian organization is seeking an Accounting IntermediateSupervisor to join its finance team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take the next step into a broader leadership role.
The successful candidate will oversee key day-to-day accounting activities while providing guidance and support to members of the accounting team. The role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll oversight, internal controls, audit support, and financial analysis.

The successful candidate will receive hands-on training and increased responsibility, with the opportunity to progress into a more senior finance leadership position over approximately the next 12 months.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities and ensure transactions are completed accurately and within required timelines.
- Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and the integrity of financial records.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting and closing processes.
- Review balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate discrepancies or unusual activity.
- Prepare financial reports, management analyses, forecasts, and other information used to support business decisions.
- Coordinate and contribute to annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Partner with operational leaders to review budgets, financial results, cost variances, and business performance.
- Analyze financial trends and identify opportunities to improve profitability, manage costs, and strengthen financial performance.
- Support indirect tax filings and other applicable financial and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist with the development and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support external audits by preparing documentation, responding to information requests, and coordinating with external advisors.
- Assist with financial risk management and ensure appropriate controls are maintained.
- Review payroll-related reporting and processes for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and guidance to accounting staff across areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general accounting, and financial reporting.
- Coach and support team members while helping ensure responsibilities and deadlines are clearly understood and consistently met.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve the overall efficiency of the finance function.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support short- and long-term planning.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Approximately 8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or providing day-to-day guidance to accounting professionals is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Exposure to payroll, audit, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial results, identify trends, and provide practical recommendations.
- Experience working with accounting, payroll, financial reporting, or enterprise management systems.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented approach to identifying financial and operational issues.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and a genuine interest in progressing into a broader management role.
