A growing organization in the distribution and supply chain sector is seeking an Accounts Payable Lead to join its finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounts payable professional who enjoys combining hands-on accounting work with team leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration in a high-volume environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, this position will oversee day-to-day AP operations while supporting reporting, reconciliations, process enhancements, and team development. The successful candidate will lead a small team, partner with internal departments and external vendors, and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support the accounts payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions
- Review, verify, and process invoices while maintaining compliance with company policies and payment terms
- Assist with AP reporting, process improvements, and system enhancement initiatives
- Support ERP system training and provide technical guidance to team members
- Manage vendor relationships and serve as a key point of contact for operational and payment-related inquiries
- Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial records
- Prepare and process vendor payments, journal entries, and month-end reporting packages
- Support period-end close activities, audits, and financial analysis requests
- Prepare AP-related reporting and analysis for internal stakeholders across multiple business functions
- Contribute to strategic and operational projects aimed at improving efficiency and strengthening internal processes
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience within a corporate or multi-entity environment
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a team is an asset
- Experience working with ERP systems in a high-volume accounting environment
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including reporting and data analysis capabilities
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a global or multi-entity organization is considered an asset
