About the Role
Reporting to finance leadership, this position is responsible for managing day-to-day accounts receivable activities, including payment processing, cash application, account reconciliations, customer account maintenance, and collections support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring account accuracy, resolving payment-related issues, and maintaining strong relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Process and post customer payments, credits, deductions, and adjustments accurately and on a timely basis
- Apply cash receipts to customer accounts and ensure transactions are properly recorded within the accounting system
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate outstanding balances, discrepancies, and payment variances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records and supporting documentation
- Monitor account activity and collaborate with customers and internal departments to resolve payment-related issues
- Support the management of large customer accounts within a high-volume transactional environment
- Process and maintain sales order information as transactions are completed
- Assist customers and internal stakeholders with billing inquiries and account-related concerns
- Research and resolve unapplied cash, deductions, credits, and other account discrepancies
- Support collections activities by providing account analysis, reporting, and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end accounts receivable reconciliations and related reporting requirements
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and workflow effectiveness
- Collaborate with finance and operational teams to ensure customer accounts remain accurate and current
What You Bring
- Minimum 5 years of accounts receivable experience in a high-volume environment
- Strong experience with payment posting, cash application, account reconciliations, and credit processing
- Proven ability to manage large customer accounts and high transaction volumes
- Experience supporting collections activities and resolving customer account issues
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Experience within distribution, manufacturing, consumer products, retail, or similar industries is considered an asset
- Strong systems aptitude and ability to quickly learn new processes and technologies
