A Dynamic organization in the global software and technology sector is seeking a Business Development Director to join their team. This role offers leadership exposure, strategic impact, and the opportunity to build and scale a high-performing M&A sourcing function, and is ideal for professionals with a strong background in M&A deal origination, relationship development, and team leadership.
About the Role:
Reporting into senior investment leadership, this role is responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s M&A deal sourcing strategy. You will lead a team dedicated to identifying, qualifying, and nurturing acquisition opportunities across global vertical market software sectors. This is a player–coach position combining hands-on sourcing, relationship building, team development, and strategic planning.
What You’ll Do:
• Build, lead, and mentor a business development team focused on sourcing high-quality M&A opportunities.
• Develop a long-term sourcing strategy and roadmap to support sustained capital deployment.
• Establish and nurture relationships with software founders, CEOs, shareholders, PE/VC funds, investment bankers, and industry advisors.
• Plan and execute outbound campaigns through email, LinkedIn, calls, conferences, and in-person meetings.
• Advance potential acquisitions through the sourcing pipeline and qualify them for the internal M&A team.
• Promote a culture of excellence, entrepreneurial thinking, and accountability across the BD function.
• Collaborate with senior leaders in M&A and Operations to support the inorganic growth strategy.
• Engage in daily activities including research, outreach, pipeline management, coaching team members, and attending industry events.
What You Bring:
• 5+ years of experience in M&A, private equity, venture capital, or investment banking, specifically in deal sourcing or execution.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and scale a high-performing BD or sourcing team.
• Strong relationship-building capabilities and natural curiosity about businesses and their operators.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort building rapport remotely and in person.
• Strong leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a related field.
• High attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Self-driven, entrepreneurial mindset with comfort working autonomously.
• Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and industry events.
