We're recruiting a Controller for a leadership opportunity where you'll oversee the day-to-day finance function, lead a high-performing accounting team, and help shape the organization's financial operations. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and operational accounting while identifying opportunities to strengthen processes and support the organization's long-term objectives.
What You'll Do
- Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and general accounting.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
- Prepare financial analyses and provide recommendations that support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic business decisions.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to support operational and financial objectives.
- Oversee cash flow management and support working capital planning.
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate annual audit activities and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and professional advisors.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
- Evaluate financial systems and identify opportunities to improve processes through technology, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support special projects and other strategic finance initiatives as required.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting, financial management, and financial reporting.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and financial analysis.
- Experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, external audits, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting technologies.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
