A publicly listed natural resources organization is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to join its corporate finance team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing consolidated financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening internal controls within a multi-entity environment. The position reports directly to senior finance leadership and plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of public reporting deliverables.

About the Role
This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity within the finance function. The successful candidate will lead the financial reporting process, manage a small team, and partner closely with operational finance teams. The organization is seeking a technically strong, hands-on leader who understands public company reporting requirements and the nuances of the resource sector. The role follows a hybrid model, with three days per week in-office in Toronto.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee month-end close activities, including review of operating and corporate transactions
  • Lead consolidation of financial results and preparation of quarterly and annual public filings
  • Analyze financial information from operating entities and ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Coordinate annual corporate and tax filings in partnership with external advisors
  • Assess and implement new accounting standards and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Support and enhance internal control frameworks in line with public company compliance standards
  • Manage quarterly reviews and year-end audit processes with external auditors
  • Lead, mentor, and support a small team

What You Bring
  • CPA designation (required)
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or the natural resources sector
  • Must have prior experience with a Big Four accounting firm
  • Strong background in consolidation and public company financial reporting
  • Deep understanding of IFRS and internal control environments within publicly regulated organizations
  • Experience operating within a formal internal controls and compliance framework
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate with precision in a deadline-driven, publicly regulated environment
  • Bilingual capabilities are considered an asset (Spanish and English)
