A large software organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst contractor. This role will focus on migrating both Canadian and U.S. payroll operations to a centralized team structure. It is ideal for someone highly detail-oriented who has experience with payroll reconciliations, data migration, and system transitions. This opportunity is primarily remote, with occasional in-person collaboration during onboarding or training as needed.
 
About the Role
Reporting to senior payroll leadership, this position will play a key role in transitioning payroll functions from external and decentralized processes to an internal head office team. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between payroll stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance throughout the migration. This role combines project coordination, payroll processing, reconciliation work, and data validation.
 
What You’ll Do
  • Support the transition of Canadian and U.S. payrolls to a centralized structure
  • Extract, review, and validate payroll reports from legacy systems
  • Reconcile year-to-date earnings, taxes, statutory deductions, and remittances
  • Perform detailed fact-checking of payroll data prior to system migration
  • Assist with payroll data migration, ensuring accurate transfer of employee records
  • Generate and validate payroll reports for each transitioning entity
  • Gather and organize employee census data and documentation
  • Support file setup and employee information structuring within the new system
  • Interface with internal payroll leads to coordinate data handover
  • Assist with payroll processing responsibilities during and after transition

What You Bring
  • Experience in Canadian payroll, including knowledge of statutory deductions
  • Working knowledge of U.S. payroll fundamentals
  • Strong reconciliation experience and comfort reviewing year-to-date balances
  • Experience supporting payroll system transitions or provider migrations is an asset
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in large data sets
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
