An organization within a regulated, asset-intensive industry is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join its growing finance team. Reporting into a senior finance leader, this position focuses on financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls while partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee the preparation and review of periodic financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Coordinate external reporting requirements and support audits and regulatory filings
- Review complex accounting matters and provide technical guidance to internal teams
- Partner with operational and finance stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Support the development and enhancement of internal controls and financial processes
- Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate insights to leadership
- Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives as needed
- Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA or equivalent)
- A solid background in financial reporting, audit, or technical accounting within a complex organization
- Several years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to regulated environments
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and explain financial data clearly
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and financial reporting tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working with large data sets or financial systems is considered an asset
