About the Role
Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Property Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting activities for a residential property portfolio. The role focuses on full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting operational teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
What You’ll Do
- Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of residential properties
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Support financial reporting, variance analysis, and budget tracking
- Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger transactions for accuracy
- Work closely with property management and operational teams to resolve accounting-related issues
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Assist with audits, reporting requests, and ad hoc finance projects as needed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
What You Bring
- Experience in residential property accounting is required
- Hands-on experience using Yardi is required
- CPA designation is considered a strong asset but not required
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience within real estate or property management environments
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end reporting processes
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
