An established organization in the retail and consumer goods sector is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead its day-to-day accounting operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys leading a team, driving process improvements, and partnering with business leaders to support operational and financial success.
 
About the Role
Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will oversee the full accounting function while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvements across the department.
 
What You'll Do
  • Oversee the daily accounting function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses for leadership.
  • Monitor cash flow, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide financial insights to aid business decision-making.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop members of the accounting team while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
  • Manage inventory accounting, cost tracking, and related reconciliations within an inventory-driven business.
  • Partner with operational leaders to provide financial analysis and recommendations that support business performance.
  • Coordinate external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors and other external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, workflow enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Support strategic initiatives and special projects as required.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Experience working in a retail, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, or other inventory-based environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
