A reputable organization is seeking a Senior General Accountant to join its finance team. This opportunity is ideal for a CPA-designated professional or CPA candidate nearing completion who is looking to expand their experience within a complex, multi-entity environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior General Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, compliance filings, and audit support. The position offers exposure to both operational and financial accounting while providing opportunities to contribute to process improvements and cross-functional initiatives.
What You'll Do
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Prepare and review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages
- Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure the integrity of financial records
- Assist with financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making
- Participate in the preparation of trial balances and supporting schedules
Compliance, Audit & Regulatory Reporting
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Assist with tax, regulatory, and other compliance-related filings
- Ensure accounting practices and financial reporting activities comply with applicable standards and internal policies
- Support the preparation of documentation required for year-end reporting activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with departments across the organization to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information
- Provide accounting guidance and support to internal stakeholders
- Assist with special projects and business initiatives as required
- Contribute to maintaining strong internal controls and financial processes
Process Improvement & Analysis
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, reporting efficiencies, and internal workflows
- Participate in process improvement initiatives that support operational excellence
- Analyze financial information and investigate variances to support accurate reporting
- Contribute to ongoing enhancements in financial systems and reporting practices
What You Bring
- Mandarin language proficiency is required
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA designation or active pursuit of a professional accounting designation with completion expected in the near term
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience gained through public practice, industry, or a combination of both
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and financial reporting principles
- Experience working within a multi-entity or complex business environment is considered an asset
- Advanced spreadsheet and financial analysis skills
- Experience working with enterprise accounting and reporting systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
