 We're recruiting a Senior Manager, Regulatory Finance for a leadership opportunity with a major infrastructure organization. This role focuses on the financial and accounting side of regulatory activities, supporting the preparation, analysis, and defence of financial information used in regulatory filings.

This is an excellent fit for a senior finance professional with utility experience who understands how financial information supports regulatory requirements and enjoys working across finance, operations, and leadership teams.

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of financial information supporting regulatory filings.
  • Provide financial and accounting expertise throughout the regulatory reporting process.
  • Review financial data, schedules, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the development of financial information and analysis used to substantiate regulatory submissions.
  • Assist with responding to questions, information requests, and challenges related to regulatory filings.
  • Work closely with finance, accounting, operational, and regulatory stakeholders to coordinate filing requirements.
  • Analyze financial results and develop supporting schedules, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensure financial information is consistent with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Support regulatory reviews, hearings, audits, and other related activities as required.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership on regulatory matters.
  • Contribute to process improvements that strengthen the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of regulatory reporting.
 

What You'll Bring

  • CPA designation or another relevant professional accounting designation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Significant progressive experience in finance, accounting, financial reporting, or regulatory finance.
  • Experience within the utility sector is strongly preferred.
  • Water utility experience is considered a significant asset.
  • Practical exposure to regulatory finance, regulatory accounting, or financial reporting for regulatory purposes.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a complex, highly regulated environment.
