A respected organization is seeking a Tax Director to lead its corporate tax function. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to take ownership of complex tax matters while partnering closely with executive leadership. The role offers significant visibility, strategic influence, and the opportunity to build and strengthen the tax function within a collaborative environment.
 
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Tax Director will lead all aspects of corporate taxation while serving as the organization's primary tax advisor. Working closely with senior finance leaders, external auditors, and professional advisors, you'll provide strategic guidance, oversee tax compliance, and identify opportunities to strengthen processes and mitigate risk.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the organization's corporate tax function, ensuring compliance with applicable tax legislation and reporting requirements
  • Serve as the primary tax subject matter expert, providing strategic guidance to senior leadership on complex tax matters
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Review tax filings, provisions, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce risk
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on the organization and recommending appropriate actions
  • Partner with finance and business leaders on strategic initiatives, transactions, and tax planning opportunities
  • Support the continued growth of the tax function, including mentoring and developing future team members as needed

What You'll Bring

  • CPA designation and/or relevant tax specialization
  • Extensive progressive experience in corporate taxation gained through public practice, industry, or a combination of both
  • Strong technical tax expertise with the ability to independently manage complex tax matters
  • Experience interpreting tax legislation and providing practical business-focused recommendations
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities with experience working alongside executive leadership
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs
  • Experience with indirect tax or leasing-related tax matters is considered an asset
