About the Role Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Tax Manager will oversee Canadian corporate tax compliance, planning, and reporting. You will act as the subject matter expert on tax matters, partnering cross-functionally to ensure accurate reporting, effective risk management, and strategic tax optimization. This role offers both operational responsibility and advisory exposure, making it well-suited for someone transitioning from public practice into industry.
What You’ll Do
- Manage Canadian corporate income tax compliance, including preparation and review of tax filings and supporting documentation
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with accounting standards
- Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to optimize tax positions
- Partner with external advisors on complex tax matters and audits
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on tax implications of transactions, financings, and project activities
- Monitor legislative changes and assess impact to the organization
- Support internal controls and documentation related to tax processes
- Contribute to special projects, including system implementations and process improvements
What You Bring
- CPA designation required
- 6-10 years of progressive Canadian corporate tax experience
- Experience at a large public accounting firm at the Manager level preferred
- Exposure to clients in capital-intensive industries is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of Canadian tax legislation and financial reporting for income taxes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across finance and operations
